Parent
Teacher Fellowship
Parent Teacher
Fellowship is the association of parents and teachers coming together to
support our students and school. It
provides an opportunity for fellowship and discussion as well as special
presentations by students, such as plays by the Drama Club and Jump Rope/Hoops
for Heart. PTF meets once a month and
holds a number of fundraisers each year.
Parents and teachers seek to encourage students in a number of ways. They have encouraged student reading by
supporting the World Book reading incentive program, and students were able to
purchase a new set of encyclopedia for our library. PTF also sends each student a birthday card
with a coupon for free ice cream. They
support the honors program and reward students for good attendance.
PTF has supported teachers going to professional meetings by giving each some
spending money for classroom materials.
PTF has purchased classroom videos, art supplies, a set of bells for the
music classes, physical education equipment, and testing materials. PTF also contributed to the cost of buying a
much-needed new riding lawn mower.
One of the biggest events held by PTF is the PTF
melodrama. Teachers and parents “let
down their hair” (or put some on) and become temporarily transformed into
villains and heroes. Teachers and
parents enjoy getting to know each other better in a fun sort of way, and
students enjoy laughing at their teachers and parents in the hilarious scenes
of the melodrama.
