Keck graduated from Indiana University at South Bend with a Bachelor’s of Science degree and later received his Master’s of Arts in Communication from Morehead State University in Kentucky.
Lorie has been a Christian for 52 years and has desired to follow God’s leading in his life. After teaching in Lapaz, IN for three years Keck left the teaching profession for two years and the Lord led him, his wife Kathy, and then two children to Riverside via a Lower Light program at the Teegarden First Brethren Church in Indiana.
He and Kathy have three children, Amie and her husband Ben Armstrong who live in Madison, WI with their two sons Harrison and Colin; Adam Keck a police officer in Belen, NM; and Andy Keck and his wife Cassie who recently moved to Lexington: Andy is working in pre-production at Toyota and Cassie has begun her first year of law school at the University of Kentucky.

Becky Baker – Becky Baker first came to Riverside as an elementary teacher in 1971 with a desire to serve God in full-time Christian ministry. When her job required her to teach physical education and coach basketball, she resumed her education in physical education. Eventually, her love of exercise physiology led her to leave Riverside in 1981 to pursue a graduate degree in exercise science, but God graciously brought her back 20 years later. Since her return, she has served as an elementary teacher, physical educator, photographer, computer teacher, and more. She loves Riverside and feels fortunate to be working with such a faithful, faith-filled, encouraging group of Christian servants. Meg Plummer – Meg Plummer is from Galion, Ohio and a 2011 graduate of Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. While in college, Meg encountered the crazy love of Jesus Christ and decided that her life was going to be about something bigger than herself. She graduated with an Education degree in Integrated Social Studies and planned on teaching abroad or in an inner city school system. After many unexpected rejection letters, Meg found herself on a road trip to Kentucky for an impromptu interview. While exploring Breathitt County, it was obvious that Jesus had something big in store for her in Eastern Kentucky. Since being at Riverside, Meg has grown to love the area and is excited to see how the Lord will continue to move! 2015-16 Meg is in her fifth year at Riverside and is also serving as Interim Principal for grades 7-12. Katie Driskill -Katie is a Breathitt County native with a passion for music and teaching. Katie is a graduate of Alice Lloyd College and is excited to put all that she has learned into practice for her students. This year Katie is teaching 1st and 2nd grade. click here.
Marcia Thompson -Marcia graduated from Gordon College with a B.A. in Biology and from Pace University/New York Medical College Graduate School of Nursing with an M.S.N. After spending 25 years in the nursing profession, she felt that God was providing an opportunity for a career change, and she joined the Riverside staff in 2000. Marcia currently teaches middle and high school Bible classes. She enjoys spending time with her animals including 2 dogs and 1 horse and 3 barn cats. Nancy Hostetler – Nancy grew up in Ohio and received a B.A. degree with an English major from Ashland College. Doran, her fiance at that time, fell in love with Riverside and the couple went forward together for full-time Christian service, were married, and came to Riverside to stay. Although Nancy had gone to church all her life, it was Doran who really helped her come to know Jesus as her personal savior. Nancy has been teaching high school English for over 50 years here. She has also taught journalism, speech, French drama and Bible. This year her primary responsibilities include writing PR updates for the local newspaper, writing and editing for The Beacon, Riverside’s newspaper and working on a second volume of Riverside’s history (the last 50 years). Jared Blocher-Jared is from North Manchester, Indiana and is a 2011 graduate from Kirkwood College in Iowa; he graduated with an Associate’s degree in Parks and Natural Resources. He is also a 2013 Graduate from Northwest Missouri State University, where he received his Bachelors of Technology in the Field of Parks and Natural Resources/ Recreation. This is Jared’s 3rd year at Riverside Christian School. He teaches all the science classes, the automotive class and he coaches baseball and weightlifting.
Jen Huber- Jen came to us from Atmore, Alabama, where she had taught in a small Christian school for eight years. She is a 2010 graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. She has her B.S. in Education with minors in Psychology and Christian Counseling. She is now in her second year of teaching here at Riverside. This year Jen is teaching junior high/high school math classes as well as Spanish I and Home Economics as well as leading the Student Council. After serving at Bethel Camp for several summers and talking with different people connected with Riverside, Jen felt God calling her to teach here at Riverside. She thoroughly enjoys living in the mountains of Kentucky and living in community at Riverside. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, crocheting, and cheering for Alabama football. click here.
Kimberly Hootman– Kim is from Lost Creek, Kentucky. She attended Lees College where she received an associate degree in Nursing. As a Registered Nurse, she has worked in the hospital setting for a number of years and now serves as secretary and helps with school nurse duties at Riverside. This is Kim’s third year of service here. She enjoys crafting and spending time with her husband and daughter, who attends school at Riverside.
Shirley Neace- Shirley, one of our Food Service staff, is an Ohio native who has lived in Kentucky since age 16. She has been cooking for us since 2005, and says she enjoys her job! Two of her children graduated from Riverside: daughter Kim Hootman (who is our school secretary), and son John Paul, who serves on Riverside’s board. Granddaughter Avery, her pride and joy, is a Kindergartner at Riverside this year. In Shirley’s spare time she likes watching all the “judge shows” on TV and loves to work crossword puzzles.
Dorothy Moore- Dorothy is another valued member of our Food Service team who began working at Riverside in both the Library and Cafeteria in 2004. Her son, Tommy, graduated from Riverside and also works in the kitchen. She enjoys working with him and also seeing all the children come through the lunch line each day. In addition to spending time with family, Dorothy enjoys walking, reading, working crossword puzzles and watching TV when she has time.
Tommy Moore- Tommy, a 2012 graduate of Riverside, and a varsity basketball player while he was in high school, says he enjoys helping the school as much as he can because it has been such a big part of his life. He enjoys helping the kids as he serves in the Cafeteria, and also helps with the boys basketball team. Tommy continues to enjoy playing basketball himself and is taking college classes in Coaching Management.
Rachel Fisher– Rachel grew up in Ohio, but discovered her love of teaching while on a mission trip to India. When she returned home, she went to Ohio Christian University, earning a B.A. in Elementary Education. Rachel had heard about Riverside through her sister-in-law, and after a trip down to observe the school and have an interview, she joined the staff in January 2014. This year, Rachel is teaching the 3rd and 4th grades and is excited to learn about her students and help them learn about the world around them.
Stephanie Moore– Born in Arizona, Stephanie and her family have lived in Hazard, KY since she was 13. She attended Rosedale Bible College, receiving an A.A. in Biblical Studies with a concentration in Education. She then enrolled at Alice Lloyd College, earning a B.A. in English with a History minor. Her work study assignment at Alice Lloyd for three years was in the daycare center on campus, working with ages 6 weeks to 5 years. She also spent three summers tutoring reading at Hindman Settlement School. She loves watching children learn and seeing it “click” for them when they grasp a concept for the first time. Stephanie is teaching Kindergarten this year. She loves reading and creative writing and anything that gets her into the outdoors!
