Riverside Staff Team

Meg Asher – Principal

Meg is from Galion, Ohio and a 2011 graduate of Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. While in college, Meg encountered the crazy love of Jesus Christ and decided that her life was going to be about something bigger than herself. She graduated with an Education degree in Integrated Social Studies and planned on teaching abroad or in an inner city school system. After many unexpected rejection letters, Meg found herself on a road trip to Kentucky for an impromptu interview. While exploring Breathitt County, it was obvious that Jesus had something big in store for her in Eastern Kentucky. Since being at Riverside, Meg has grown to love the area and is excited to see how the Lord will continue to move!  Meg is serving as Principal for grades K-12.

Joanna Pyle – 3rd & 4th

Joanna Pyle is originally from northern Indiana. In 2013 she moved to Jackson, Kentucky where she attended Kentucky Mountain Bible College. In 2017 she graduated with a BA in Bible & Theology. After graduation she immediately began taking classes for her MA in Christian Ministry at Wesley Biblical Seminary. Soon she felt God calling her back to Kentucky, not as a student but as a servant for Him. She was thrilled to accept a position at Riverside and is very excited to share the love of Jesus with her students and their families. She’s eagerly anticipating a good first year at Riverside.

Kate Driskill – 5th and 6th grade

Kate Driskill grew up in Jackson KY, and studied Elementary Education at Alice Lloyd College. She also has her MMin. (Masters in Ministry) from Cedarville University. She has volunteered several times at Riverside and has come to see this place as a home.  Kate enjoys helping at Bethel Camp, playing guitar/piano, cooking big meals, coffee, and work projects. And when she’s relaxing, a good movie is always nice.

Becky Baker – Computers/Science

Becky Baker first came to Riverside as an elementary teacher in 1971 with a desire to serve God in full-time Christian ministry. When her job required her to teach physical education and coach basketball, she resumed her education in physical education. Eventually, her love of exercise physiology led her to leave Riverside in 1981 to pursue a graduate degree in exercise science, but God graciously brought her back 20 years later. Since her return, she has served as an elementary teacher, physical educator, photographer, computer teacher, and more. She loves Riverside and feels fortunate to be working with such a  faithful, faith-filled, encouraging group of Christian servants. Some of her favorite things to do in her spare time are playing tennis, gardening, and spending time with her two dogs.

High School & Jr. High

Mack Asher-  Mack was born and raised in Oneida, KY. Growing up, his parents were teachers at a vocational school in Clay County. Not only were they teachers but they also bred and raised dogs for a living, which started his life with a passion for animals. Starting out in life Mack thought he was going to become a veterinarian, but quickly realized the vet life wasn’t for him.  While in high school he met some peculiar people that always wanted to talk about Jesus, which not only helped him gain a love for Jesus but it also stirred him into a life of salvation. After high school Mack attended Alice Lloyd College to play tennis and figure out what he wanted to do with the rest of his life.  Thanks to some amazing influences he found a crazy passion for teaching. Mack graduated with a Math Education degree for grades 5-9. He is currently the junior high math teacher as well as the freshman and sophomore Bible teacher. Mack is also a cross country coach, as well as a chess coach for the school.

Lindsay Foster – Lindsay grew up in Albany, Kentucky and graduated from Morehead State University with major in History and minor in English. Before coming to Riverside, she was a substitute teacher for the Clinton County School District, where she graduated from high school in 2004. Lindsay has a passion for Colonial and Revolutionary American studies as well as 20th Century European history.  She teaches several social studies classes as well as science. Lindsay is a devout lover of Christ who enjoys being involved in several ministries, including music, youth/teenage ministries, and conducting several Bible studies. At home in Albany, she attends Albany United Church of the Nazarene. She also enjoys attending Solid Rock Fellowship in Hazard. She continues to study the Bible regularly and chooses Romans 5:8 and Romans 8:38-39 as her two favorite Scriptures. Lindsay is a musician and leads the chapel worship team at Riverside.

Nancy Hostetler (Lifelong teacher emeritis) – Nancy grew up in Ohio and received a B.A. degree with an English major from Ashland College. Doran, her fiancé at that time, fell in love with Riverside and the couple  went forward together for full-time Christian service, were married, and came to Riverside to stay. Although Nancy had gone to church all her life, it was Doran who really helped her come to know Jesus as her personal savior. Nancy has been teaching high school English for over 50 years here. She has also taught journalism, speech, French drama and Bible. This year her primary responsibilities include writing PR updates for the local newspaper, writing and editing for The Beacon, Riverside’s newspaper and working on a second volume of Riverside’s history (the last 50 years). Nancy says joyfully she would do it all over again in a heartbeat.  Continue to pray for Nancy as she serves the school in a serving role as her health no longer allows her to teach.

Jen Huber – Jen came to us from Atmore, Alabama, where she had taught in a small Christian school for eight years.  She is a 2010 graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.  She has her B.S. in Education with minors in Psychology and Christian Counseling.   This year Jen is teaching junior high/high school math classes as well as Spanish I and Home Economics as well as leading the Student Council.  After serving at Bethel Camp for several summers and talking with different people connected with Riverside, Jen felt God calling her to teach here at Riverside.  She thoroughly enjoys living in the mountains of Kentucky and living in community at Riverside.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, crocheting, and cheering for Alabama football.
